When traced lightly these letters give the child a tactile and muscular impression of the letters. Saying the sound of the letter while tracing will show her the association between the letter and the sound giving her the information needed to begin working toward understanding written language.
Each
letter is displayed on an 8" x 4½" wooden board. The space
above the letter is always larger than the
space below, which works as a control of error to keep the letters
upright.
The letters appear on the boards with the correct orientation of ascenders and descenders, clearly illustrating where letters should be placed on a line when written.
A matching exercise can be made with our sandpaper
letters and large wooden
movable alphabet.
